The vineyard is located in the idyllic Palatinate region in the wine village of Ruppertsberg on the German Wine Route.
Here, the climate is particularly favourable for winegrowing, but also fig, lemon and almond trees flourish here. The vineyards of the Mittelhaardt Mountains are embedded between the Palatine Forest in the West and the Rhine Valley in the East. The Motzenbäcker Estate has been family-run since 1838. Its Venetian style villa with a sandstone flight of steps stands in the middle of a sea of vines of its own vineyards. Underneath the villa, there is a vaulted brick cellar where the finest-quality red wines are kept in barrique barrels. The verdure of the vineyards contrasts beautifully with the colourful plantation around the vines. Biodiversity is an important issue at the Motzenbäcker Estate, as only a diverse nature and healthy soils can create the environment for the production of top quality wines. The vines are up to 40 years old. They grow on light and warm variegated sandstone soil. Our most important vineyard sites are: Ruppertsberger Reiterpfad, Deidesheimer Paradiesgarten, Ruppertsberger Nußbien and Ruppertsberger Hoheburg. Each of these sites develops an individual wine full of character. A powerful, yet elegant fruit combined with a harmonic body structure characterizes our wines.
Working in the vineyard means striving for highest quality. Only healthy and strong vines offer the basis for excellent wines. All grapes are hand picked and hand selected. The extra work is well worth it, you can taste it in each drop of Motzenbäcker wine!
